This page "PHOTO'S AND Feedback" is called this for a reason, it's a place to "blow smoke". Say what's on a pipemakers mind, (if anything) or thoughts from a pipe collector, and generally talk about pipes, tobacco, shows, pipemaking and current issues... all with some photo's. So if you would like, visit often, I hope to have items which will interest you and keep you coming back for more! Any ideas? Please email me, I would like to hear them and maybe we can put some of them on the web site?

Bob, Did make it home and back already. Got back last week. 14 days home, 13 in travel between getting home and back over here. Really got to enjoy doing the simple things like grocery shopping and cleaning the garage .... Sounds silly but it was thoroughly relaxing. Coming back was hard on us both, but we know it is only temporary. Spent some time with our parents down in .... Nothing too exciting, just time with family. Did enjoy both of the pipes greatly while home. Determined they were too nice and important to me to risk trying to get them out here, so into the safe they went until January. I really enjoy it, cant thank you enough.... Only tried the partial bowls as instructed and they smoked great. Broken in these are going to be stunning I am sure. My dad watched me sitting on the back porch enjoying the larger canadian and he said it was a mental picture he'll keep forever. Just pure good ole fashioned me. I remember that smoke, it was a simply perfect one. Family, dogs, and my pipes. Doesn't get much better than that. Full belly too of mommas cooking. I browse your site frequently and have been waiting to see more Canadians pop up. I am hooked on that shape and you execute it so well. I want you to know they are ... family heirlooms .... I see the new canadian you posted. If it sticks around much longer, the rest of the weekend, I'm going to grab it .... It looks great and would fit into the rotation nicely. My Wife took a good photo.... one of me with the smaller black Canadian. Let me know about the new Canadian... Do stay in touch and I will do the same. Your pipes are amazing, truly. Again, I can't thank you enough. Cpl. S.T. Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan
Hi Bob: Made a run up to the lake cottage (iced over since I was up there 2 weeks ago). 4-5 inches of fresh snow to boot. Had a nice weekend smoking my new Perry White Magnum. LOVE the size, shape and overall smoke of this pipe ... wonderful smoke. Smoked well from the first bowl, no question. Must have something to do with your proprietary "curing" process. Anyways, wanted to pass that along.... honored to own one of your handmade's. Regards, T.T. Northern Wisconsin
I am at a loss for words...... Thank you Bob. There is finally a pipe that I don't really know if I should smoke it or not.......it is too wonderful...... .... meeting tonight that I was going to smoke it for the first time (until I saw it) - but, I'm not sure that I want to risk taking it out of the house. That is something coming from me - the "if it were a woman, you'd have... with her, wouldn't you" reasoner.....I'm serious - this pipe is just so special. L.H. Richmond Virginia
Good Morning Bob, I wanted to drop you this email to offer a sincere thank you once again for creating such a wonderful pipe as the Perry White Magnum Dublin Blast, or as it has been nicknamed in my house "Thor's Hammer". I had my third smoke with him this AM, smoking Mac Baren HH Vintage Syrian (which it burned perfectly even and reduced to a fine grey powder, burning cool and dry. I say HIM not IT because HE truly is like a long-lost friend coming back into my life. Only second best thing in my life next to the first of which where my two sons being born; Dylan Philip (4) and Connor Patrick (2). Thank you, thank you, thank you. I will never, ever be able to thank you enough for creating such a treasure for me for which I will cherish until the end of my days. The smoking quality of this pipe I can't even put into words, just pure bliss when Smoker and Pipe become ONE, when everything is perfect; Pipe, tobacco and smoking method. This is something I have found MUST be perfect, but OH MAN when it is, like the Sun, Moon and Stars are all in perfect Harmony. It transcends a troubled and stressful soul into a state of pure relaxed meditation, something I could not master when studying the martial arts, now has been achieved...if I had only known I was searching for a Perry White pipe ;-) I'm currently also gazing at the Perry White Traditions Blast Billiard for-sale but also still admiring the (White Traditions - Classic Blast BILLIARD, which was SOLD :( ) I hope the owner truly appreciates his/her pipe as I do my Mag-Dublin-Blast. Another wonderful creation and please let me know when/if you are working on another , under the SOLD gallery; the Perry White Elephants Foot B2, a beautiful design/look for a pipe in my mind. S.M. Connecticut
Got the pipe today.... I went to the post office and got it today. Beautiful pipe and very well made. You do good work. I really expected it to feel a bit off balance but it doesn't. I really like the draw with it. And so light. Many Thanks again for everything!!! Jack. Texas
Received the pipe…Excellent…..Very unique pipe to say the least…..Straight grain superb…..Birdseye excellent (almost, but not quite as good as the birdseye on the Cup and Saucer you crafted!)…..Not just a sitter, but a Rocking Chair sitter….Interesting treatment on the bottom…..the very slight bend that you put on the bit also is the exactly right touch! Thanks for this “keeper” M.B. Houston
Hi Bob, Hope you had a Merry Christmas. That pipe is awesome, the blast is outstanding, nice pencil shank, and it smokes great. The other three I am looking at are: R.A. Virginia
Bob...I received the pipe today; that was fast for the post office! After looking at the pipe I have one word: Wow! It very definitely is a unique pipe. It is bigger than I thought it would be, even though I did look at the dimensions. A large piece of wood. It holds very well in the hand, with the fingers around the bowl on top of the saucer. And I like feeling it with my hand and feeling the hand shaping. The slight cant of the cup and saucer also makes it clearly a handmade beauty. The grain all the way around the saucer and the bowl is super...and I really like the birdseye. Good stain color. Spot on drilling of course. This pipe should be on the cover of a magazine ! Send photos to P&T, they should put it on the cover. For now I will keep it unsmoked. Best regards.... Houston Texas
I recently joined the North American Society of Pipe Collectors and as I was reading the back issue that Mr. Unger sent to me I found the name “Perry White” pipes which led me to your website. My first click took me to the “traditions” portion and I went somewhat numb as I read the story of your family name history going back to Scotland. I am pleased to find your website, ... and I will look for the opportunity to purchase your work. They are beautiful works of art and I suspect they smoke extremely well.... Mississippi. USA
Bob....Received the Canadian.....Excellent...You know, when I pulled the bowl out, before even taking out the stem, I looked at the pipe and thought to myself, "That's a Perry White/Bob Swanson all right" The lines of your pipes, and the stain color, are definitely distinctive. I like the pipe for quite a few reasons. The bowl proportion (width to height) is nicely done, and works well with the overall length when one includes the bit. The oval stem is excellently proportioned relative to the bowl...nice and wide, and the oval shaping is very well done. The extension on the bit works well, giving the pipe a good overall length, and the tapering on the bit itself is very good. Bowl thickness works well also relative to bowl width and height. Great grain. M.B.
I am so glad I gave you that plaque. These new pipes of yours are spectacular. Keep up the good work. I am looking forward to seeing you in Chicago. Palm Springs, USA
Didn't get a chance to tell you, but I really enjoyed my previous pipe from you. St. Louis
The RPS is outstanding B.E. Virginia
this was great. I am sitting here smoking my first bowl of the day, Cornell and Deal's Plantation Evening in my Perry White Square shanked bent Dublin with the plateau top. ... it smokes good.... Edgewater, Maryland
I received the pipe, it looks and feels great. P.B.
I must tell you again that this egg you just sold me is spectacular. I remember after I smoked that pipe I bought from you that was also made from red Algerian briar, I called you because I was amazed at how cool it smoked - especially for it's size. This pipe is the same. It weighs 3.6 onc. ... That red briar is indeed special. I can not tell you how fantastic this new pipe is. If God offered to make me the pipe of my dreams, I would tell him to make me a duplicate of this pipe ... Thanks again, will talk to you soon. L.F. Tamarac, Florida
Some very good work, and I particularly like those English-Tan sandblasts. Very attractive. See you soon. San Francisco
Thanks so much. I look forward to smoking your pipe for many years to come San Antonio Texas

Bob. Received the Magnum Billiard today....Very fine......Is a great addition to my large pipes. Texas
I want to tell you how impressed I have been with the quality and "smokability" of the 3 Perry White pipes I recently acquired from you. Most notably, the smooth straight grain delivered one of the finest "first smokes" I have ever experienced, and I've enjoyed plenty of good ones!! That is a sign of very good things to come!! I will be bringing my new treasures to the next Seattle Pipe Club meeting this Thursday at our monthly meeting. K.K.
Thanks so much! It looks quite beautiful on the web site. I'm sure my husband will love finding it in his Christmas stocking! Arizona

I've started smoking it and believe that it will be a tremendous addition to my regular rotation. Charlotte, N.C.
Hello Bob, Thought I'd let you know the Dublin arrived this afternoon. Geez what a pipe. I am so proud to have this pipe. Your workmanship is flawless. I'm trying to decide what to dedicate this pipe to, Virginias or latakia, maybe I'll just look at the pipe for a couple days. I really like the palm band and the plateau top. See ya in Richmond. Clarington, Ohio
Can you please tell me if you are taking any custom orders at this time? I would very much like to buy a replica of your Bamboo shanked red Algerian briar A1 grade pipe that is in your sold gallery. It is beautiful! I look forward to hearing from you. Tampa, Florida
Your pipe came in today and I couldn't be more pleased. Now the real hard part trying to figure out what to smoke in it. Any suggestions? again thanks for this very nice pipe. Charleston, S.C.
As for your cup and saucer, I got some "splainin" to do. My good friend ... was bugging me repeatedly to sell him that pipe from the time I acquired it from you. I finally broke down and sold it to him a few months ago. He wanted one of your pipes and that one was pretty special. So about 6 months or so after I bought the "greatline poker" from you, I sold it to him. He has said the same as I about that pipe's smoking capacity--that it smokes simply fantastic. F.H. Boulder, Colorado
Good Morning Bob Just got my pipe on Wed You where right it's a great looking pipe I'm very happy I can't wait to sit by the fire and smoke her. Thanks again; And I hope Santa will be calling on you before Christmas I put one of your pipes on my list talk to you soon Pittsburg, Pa.
Got the pipe today and it is a beauty. I noticed that the tenon and mortise matched... That is a great thing in my opinion. I also like that mahogany nut stem insert. It is very unique and it matches the stain very well, at least to my eye. Still cannot believe this pipe was not an A3.... but oh well, that means I got it at a better price, right? I plan on smoking it as soon as I get past what I call the "gawking stage." Thanks again for thinking of me, and if you do not hear from me in the next week, I will bring the pipe to St. Louis and see you there.
